Coloring Books

I recently got the girls a new coloring book, one which had been a favorite of mine as a child.  Entitled "Dress Up, Make Up," the book introduces us to four young models and takes us on their adventures around the world:

 Cover

Each model is introduced, and one section of the coloring book is dedicated to her life, hobbies and interests.  Above you can see the lovely raven-haired Julie.

Madeleine colored this page, and apparently opted to give Danielle pink-eye.  If it were me, I would postpone the head shot appointment until after my pink-eye cleared up, but apparently her goopy eyes didn't stop the agents from booking Danielle, as she certainly takes off in her modelling career throughout this coloring book.

After we see a glimpse of each model as an individual, we get a behind-the-scenes on their professional travels.  Their modelling world tour takes them all across the globe to pose in shots that are completely stereotypical to each country or ethnicity.

Dancing the hula.  Case in point.

At any rate, it goes without saying that the girls are WAAAAY into this coloring book, as I had expected when ordering it for them.  In fact, Julia loves it so much that she decided to take things to the whole next level:

Dress up Make Up 2!!!  Our dreams have been answered!

Julia created four NEW young models who all look eerily alike:

 "Meet Kenna."

"Meet Canna."  Not to be confused with Kenna.

"Gets go to Kike's hows."  I can assure you that, despite the spelling, her name is actually pronounced "Kiki."  Which you'll undoubtedly learn if you do go to her hows.

"Heyrs Eamly."  In case you're wondering about this name, I have it on good authority that it's pronounced "A-mee-lee."  Because...that's a real name.

Julia proudly announced, while in the midst of drawing one of the newest pages, "Mom?  I used to be, like, NOT SO GOOD at making coloring books, because you couldn't really, like, COLOR the people I drew, but now I figured out how to do a better job."  Then, to be sure her target market will actually have the ability to color these professional-looking pages, she double checked with me, "Mom?  But...does Auntie Caitlyn even HAVE markers?"

That might be a dilemma.  If Auntie Caitlyn doesn't have markers, it might put a damper on the WHOLE project here.

Julia's coloring book follows the basic pattern of "Dress Up Make Up (1)."  After introducing Kenna, Canna, Kike, and Eamly, we get to follow the international adventures of the four young models.

They head to such places as the country famously renowned for its gymnastics programs:
Mexico

as well as watch the girls wander about outdoors in England:

The coloring book is not even finished yet - the author/illustrator was interrupted by the fact that she had to head off to kindergarten, so I can't WAIT to see what new adventures the models will face.

In the meantime, those of you without markers better go out and buy yourself some, because you don't want to miss out on the Dress Up Make Up 2 coloring action.  Coming soon!
