Christmas Doodles

The girls have been LOVING their Christmas doodle book from Nana (thank you again, Nana!)  The best part about it is that each page allows the children to add their own artwork to each page, so they can let their creative imaginations and unique artistic styles all hang out.

Julia's pictures tend to relay Christmas cheer:

While Madeleine's are...well...completely in her artistic character:

The girls usually work side by side, each completing one half of the activity.  Again, their finished products are very telling of their artistic personalities.

Julia: ("The Best Present in the World")

Madeleine: ("The Worst Present in the World")
This definitely is the worst present in the world, if it turns your hair green and your skin all black and rotted like that.

Sometimes, however, Julia's pictures are less than cheerful.  She decided to make a "McKayla Is Not Impressed"-like drawing of the girl receiving a gift:

Meanwhile, Madeleine just made some sort of pale, creepy ghoul face on her boy receiving a gift:

And sometimes Madeleine can make cheerful scenes, not just soot-covered people.  Here is her Christmas play scene:

I don't know why that one performer has such a gargantuan head compared to all the other people.

ME: Madeleine, who is this big huge person right here?
MADELEINE: Um, that's just really JULIA.

More proof that Julia is truly the center of her little sister's universe.

Sometimes the girls add dialogue to their pictures:

And despite all their artistic differences, the girls do have one consistent artistic style.  They both draw claw-hands.

Julia:

Madeleine:

I will leave you with this one final image that Madeleine drew of Mommy playing it fast and loose with her multiple kissing partners:

Christmastime.  Share the love!

  1. I was going to say the same thing about the huge-headed just really Julia! That's what child psychologists always say!
